Q: Who pays for bio-recovery services?

A: Ultimately, the property owner is responsible for the cost of the service. In most cases, however, home, business or car insurance will pay for this type of service, minus the deductible fees. Our service can make arrangements for repayment over a short period of time or can help with financing.

Q: Can I have an employee of my business do the clean-up?

A: Federal regulation #29CFR1910.1030 of the OSHA standards states that no employee can be placed in a position to be exposed to bloodborne pathogens or blood spills without receiving the following.

1. They must have received bloodborne pathogen training by a certified instructor.
2. The company must have a written bloodborne pathogen exposure control plan.
3. The employees must be provided with personal protective equipment.
4. The employee must have received the completed series of Hepatitis “B” injections.
5. The company must have properly marked containers for the removal and storage of all bio-hazardous waste that is to be removed from the scene.
6. The company must have a contract with a contractor that can remove and dispose of the bio-hazardous waste. This company must be certified by the EPA, CDC and OSHA.

In the event of a mass pandemic, flu or other viral breakout (Avian flu, SARS, etc.) , clean scene technicians are trained in the proper disinfection and remediation of any structure or vehicle that is exposed.

She is now a certified DOULA (Child birthing coach) and nationally certified child birth educator.  In addition to doing the work of trauma scene cleaning she is also actively involved in bringing new life into the world.  She is currently working with the United States military in a program that provides birthing assistance to military wives whose husbands are deployed overseas.

Michael started in the medical field at the tender age of 14 doing basic first aid for youth rodeos.  Over the course of the years he has earned a degree in respiratory care, a nursing certificate, many certificates in fire, police and medical services and most recently as an OSHA instructor and bloodborne pathogen instructor trainer.

Michael is certified as an advanced responder in hazardous material incidents through the state fire service and is currently the president of the falcon fire protection district.

He is very active as a health and safety specialist for the Boy Scouts of America.
